The Texas Tech community is mourning the death of a student killed in a collision on Monday.
22 year old Trace Cole Thornton of Spring was riding along in a vehicle driven by 22 year old Rachel Ripley Yasso when they rear ended an 18 wheeler.
According to KXXV of Waco, the mishap occurred near Calvert, that's about 50 five miles southeast of Waco.
Yasso and Thornton were heading northbound on highway six.
Both of them were wearing seat belts. Thornton and Yasso died at the scene.
Texas Tech's on line directory lists Thornton as a student assistant for the athletic director.
