Early voting lasts through May 25…Early voting for the May 29 Texas primary elections started Monday and lasts through May 25. Registered voters can cast their ballots between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at any of the vote centers in the city, including the Lubbock County Elections Office and United Supermarkets. May 19th….The City of Lubbock has scheduled a Special City Council meeting for this Saturday, May 19, 2012 to canvass the election results and deliver the oath of office to the new City Council-elect. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 1625 13th Street.

May 20….South Plains Astronomy Club and TTU Museum Eclipse Party - On May 20, 2012, the Moon will pass directly between the sun and earth, eclipsing the sun. The eclipse starts in China, moves north to Japan, and the open ocean below the Aleutian Islands, the south again to the Pacific northwest, and finally ending in Lubbock. The South Plains Astronomy Club and the Texas Tech Museum will provide a public viewing party at the Lubbock Lake Landmark on the afternoon of May 20th starting at 6:30pm.
